Midland Commons is located on the corner of the eastern gateway to Columbus where US Highway 80 and Georgia 85 converge. This convergence of two major highways leading into Columbus will create a opportunities for retail, restaurant and service retail. Formally the location of the Swift Denim Boland Plant. Midland Commons is a mixed-use development served by a four-lane signalized access with five additional points of ingress and egress.
The Midland area of Columbus has experienced very consistent growth over the past decade with new developments in both commercial and residential markets. The most recent expansion of Pratt and Whitney, which has increased their employment by adding 500+ new jobs at their Columbus Georgia facility; and the addition of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, along with AFLAC Insurance, FedEx Distribution Center, Global Payment Solutions/TSYS and Path-Tec at Muscogee Technology Park; new residential growth continues to increase the traffic count of 70,000+ cars a day at the intersection, and is driving demand for more retail services.
Midland Commons is incorporating into the overall master plan, an enclave of restaurants, shops and residential over retail lofts in a Lifestyle Center concept located conveniently in the middle of the 88 acre site.
Travel to the Columbus State University campus and Downtown River walk via the Columbus Rails to Trails which borders the western boundary of the site may be utilized as a green way to travel to and from Midland Commons. Plans are in place to offer an on-site “Dog Park” that will be part of a nature trail bordering the natural stream that flows through a stand of mature trees that will buffer the retail and residential areas of Midland Commons.
