Greensboro is the county seat of Hale County, Alabama - Alabama's Black Belt, known for its agricultural roots, timberland, and Black Warrior River access. It is part of the Tuscaloosa, Alabama MSA. 

Hale County is seeing renewed investment activity, including a solar power project bringing an estimated $50 million into the county with construction underway. Clearing has begun for the New West Alabama Highway that will extend Highway 43 and State Route 69 and connect Tuscaloosa in North Alabama to Mobile in South Alabama, bringing economic opportunity for jobs and industries. The four-lane highway will provide vital interstate access to the Interstate in both North and South Alabama. 

The county is part of the Hale Empowerment and Revitalization Organization (HERO). HERO works as a catalyst for community development to end rural poverty in the Alabama Black Belt. As a non-profit, HERO provides economic development, community resources, housing education, and affordable housing construction. When funding is available, we also provide youth programming. 

It also falls under the Black Belt Economic Development Alliance, which covers an 11-county region in west Alabama. This region offers endless opportunities and a rich quality of life. The Black Belt continues to experience positive growth as more people discover its balance between limitless business opportunities, abundant natural resources, diverse cultures, attractive tax structure, and many other favorable conditions.
