Friday, July 13, 2012 - LinkedIn, the Internet’s professional networking platform, is expanding its space at the Empire State Building by 33 percent, adding 10,400 sf on the 24th floor to its existing 32,000 sf on the 25th floor which it leased in 2011. The asking rent was $51 per foot. “LinkedIn has told us that they are expanding because the Empire State Building has proven to be very popular amongst its growing worker population,” said Anthony Malkin, president of Malkin Holdings, which supervises the property. “The World’s Most Famous Office Building proves its value as a well-managed, upgraded, energy efficient, well-located campus environment. “We’re now very much on the radar of the tech and new media sectors.” Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Mountain View, California, LinkedIn has 2,447 employees worldwide. The network has 161 million members in some 200 nations and territories, including executives from every Fortune 500 company. Sacha Zarba of CBRE represented LinkedIn in the lease negotiations. William Cohen, Ryan Kass and Shanae Ursini of Newmark Grubb Knight Frank represented the building owners.
