Orlando, FL - (October 17, 2007) - The Central Florida Commercial Association of REALTORS® President, John Crossman, spoke to a group of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Central Districts mentoring program members at a Lunch & Learn on October 15.
John Crossman, CFCAR President and President of Orlando based Crossman & Company, delivered a presentation to commercial and residential real estate practitioners about key things one can do to have success in Commercial Real Estate.
During his presentation Mr. Crossman spoke of the importance of choosing partnerships carefully and building relationships. "People can often attribute their success or failure in business to the relationships they have with their business partner, spouse or employee," states Crossman. "True relationships are when you give without hoping to receive something in return."
He recommends reading books such as Trump: The Art of the Deal by Donald Trump and Tony Schwartz, Better Places, Better Lives by James Rouse, The Purpose Driven Life, by Rick Warren and Trammell Crow: A legacy of real estate innovation by William Bragg Ewald, Jr. "We are defined by the books we read," says Crossman.
Additionally, Mr. Crossman recommends continuing education through licenses, seminars and conferences. "Have a strategy," states Crossman. "Set goals of things to learn, questions to ask and people to meet. Execute the strategy and follow up after the course or seminar.
Crossman closed the session with the idea of Thinking Big. He said, "Ask questions, take a swing at things, show up and don't limit yourself."
