The 125th Street corridor will be getting its first major national casual restaurant chain - Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Apple Metro Franchise has signed a lease for a 6,700 sf unit at the corner of 125th Street and Fifth Avenue. It will be Apple Metro's 3rd unit in Manhattan and 15th in New York City. The deal includes ground floor frontage and signage. Scott Auster and Bradley Cohen of Ripco Real Estate handled the transaction for both sides/ Zane Tankel, the owner of Apple Metro notes; "We have been trying to expand in Harlem and fortunately good things happen to those that persevere. This is a great location and we look forward to opening in the fall of 2009 with people that we will hire from the local community." The 30,000 sf two-story building is owned by an entity controlled by The Sigfeld Group. Steven Feldman one of the principals noted, "We purchased the building as it has great visibility on a major thoroughfare in Harlem.”
